Daily Friar 6.3.12

Daily Friar Banner Rennick

The offensive explosion we saw on Friday night couldn’t repeat itself yesterday. Instead we had a pitcher’s duel most of the game, and it really was a close game. Also the Padres made things a little interesting in the 9th, but it ulitmately ended on a caught line drive off Jesus Guzman’s bat. It’s Sunday now and that means time for the rubber match. It feels like every Sunday I am saying we are playing the rubber match, or playing to salvage the series. So here I am saying it again. Hopefully Eric Stults can give a good performance. Here are your Padres links for today:

Volquez’s quality start not enough –
“And, truth be told, it probably wasn’t relief pitcher Joe Thatcher’s balk with a runner on third in a tied game, which allowed the D-backs to take the lead for good, that made the biggest difference in a 4-2 win over the Padres before a crowd of 36,559 at Petco Park.”

Infielder Forsythe joining Padres on Sunday – Union Tribune
“Forsythe is eligible to come off the 60-day disabled list today and the Padres last night announced he will be activated for Sunday afternoon
