Yesterday was the first day of the 2012 first player draft. Of course the one guy that the Padres were looking at grabbing went a little earlier than they expected. When I say a little earlier I mean going at number 1. The Astros picked Carlos Correa as the number one overall pick this year. As you should know from the articles I’ve posted, the Padres were hoping that he would fall down to their pick at number 7. That wasn’t the case, so they went with another choice. Padres tab high school lefty Fried with top pick –
“The Padres went big Monday in the First-Year Player Draft — big as in 6-foot-4 left-hander Max Fried, a hard-throwing pitcher from Harvard-Westlake High School in Studio City, Calif.”
