Daily Friar 7.14.12

Daily Friar Banner Rennick

Padres baseball is officially back, but it came in much like I do at a party. Just poke my head in, look around and sit in the corner and not make myself known. Not even a whimper from this team. The only notable thing is Clayton Richard had another awesome outing. But it all went for not as the team could only score one run for him. The most troubling stat of the night is, surprise surprise, our runners in scoring position numbers. A team that was doing pretty well with RISP the couple of weeks prior to the All-Star break went 0-12 last night. Here are your Padres links for today:

Homer in sixth spoils Richards efforts in LA –
“Instead, it was pesky Mark Ellis who spoiled one of Richard’s finest starts of the season, as his two-run home run in the sixth inning stood up for a 2-1 victory over the Padres in front of a crowd of 43,873 as San Diego opened the second half much like the way it ended the first half — with a loss.”

Can’t catch Padres on TV? Here’s my pitch – Union Tribune
