Daily Friar 8.27.13

Well, it wasn’t the Padres day yesterday. They took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but that would be all they would score as Diamondbacks starter Brandon McCarthy allowed only four base-runners over the next six innings. Tyson Ross wasn’t so bad on the mound, but after cruising through the first few innings, the D-backs put two runs on the board in the fourth and then stringed together a couple more two-run innings in the sixth and seventh. The biggest issue was that the Padres just couldn’t find a rhythm on offense, but today is a new day, which means it’s a whole new ball game. For today’s match-up, the Padres will send former D-back Ian Kennedy out on the mound to face southpaw David Holmberg, who will be making his major league debut. Make sure to tune in at 6:40 PT.
