Fall Ball Update: 10-17-13

For the first time in a couple days, multiple Padres prospects received a chance to play for the Javelinas. It was a tough night for the hitters as Tommy Medica, Austin Hedges, and Cory Spangenberg combined to go 0-10.

Hitters:

Tommy Medica-1B: 0-3, BB, K

Austin Hedges-C: 0-4, K

Cory Spangenberg-2B: 0-3, 2K

Pitchers:

Johnny Barbato-SP: 3.0 IP, 5H, 2ER, 0BB, 3K, HR Allowed (L, 0-1)

Keyvius Sampson-P: 2.0 IP, 0H, 0R, 2BB, 2K

Notes: Keyvius Sampson easily had the best performance of the 5 Padres prospects that played tonight. Sampson still has not allowed a run or a hit over 4 innings with the Javelinas. Austin Hedges threw out the only 2 runners who attempted to steal off of him.

About the author: Alex Bartlett

Three weeks after I was born, Padre legend Tony Gwynn visited my hospital and handed out teddy bears to all the newborn children, including me. I have been a Padre fan ever since. Whether SD is in the midst of an exciting playoff run, or an uneventful off-season, I love following them and I love writing about them.
