Fall Ball Update: 10/8 – 10/14

Losers of 3 straight, the Surprise Saguaros went 3-3 this past week to improve their record to 3-4. Despite their losing record, the Saguaros are actually in first place due in large part to many positive contributions from Padres prospects.

Mallex Smith – CF: 1-10, RBI, 3BB, 4K, SB(1), Run scored

Jace Peterson – 2B: 3- 12, 2B, RBI, 2K, SB(1), 2 Runs scored

Hunter Renfroe – RF: 5-16, HR(1), 3RBI, 2BB, 3K, 3 Runs scored

Trea Turner – SS: 3-5, 2 RBI, BB, K, SB(1)

Brandon Alger – RP: 2.0 IP, 1H, K

Justin Hancock – SP: 2.0 IP, 2H, 1ER, 3BB, 1K

Tayron Guerrero – RP: 1.2 IP, 6 ER, 1 HR Allowed, 2BB, 4K

Notes: Hunter Renfroe and Jace Peterson hit safely in every game they played in this past week; Renfroe has done especially well at the plate as he is currently 4th on the team in RBI’s and second in home runs. Brandon Alger pitched well in relief while Trea Turner had a 3-hit game in his first start.

About the author: Alex Bartlett

Three weeks after I was born, Padre legend Tony Gwynn visited my hospital and handed out teddy bears to all the newborn children, including me. I have been a Padre fan ever since. Whether SD is in the midst of an exciting playoff run, or an uneventful off-season, I love following them and I love writing about them.
