Fall Ball Update: 11-14-13 

With this game, the Arizona Fall League has concluded. It was an uninspiring finish for all the hitting Padres Prospects as Austin Hedges, Cory Spangenberg, and Tommy Medica combined to go 0-9. However, Austin Hedged and Cory Spangenberg impressed throughout the entire AFL season.




Austin Hedges-C: 0-4, 3K

Tommy Medica-1B: 0-4, 2K

Cory Spangenberg-DH: 0-1, BB, 2 Runs scored




Joe Wieland-RP: 1.0 IP, H, 0R, 0BB, 0K (H, 1)

Dennis O’Grady-RP: 1.0 IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 0K (H, 3)


Notes: Joe Wieland tossed a scoreless inning in his second AFL outing. Tommy Medica went 0-4 and ended up with a .121 average over 66 AFL AB’s. Medica went 3-33 (0.91 AVG) over his final 10 games. While Austin Hedges went 0-4 in his final AFL game, he did throw out the only runner who attempted to steal off of him. He finished with a .273 average. Cory Spangenberg didn’t record a hit, but he did reach base twice and score 2 runs. Spangenberg finished with a .308 average.
