Bud Selig must love this monster he has created that is basically the eastern seaboard league of baseball.
I know that Markets such as Chicago and Los Angeles and a few others have the ability to put together payrolls in the top third, but in terms of creating a fair competitive balance, Selig has failed miserably.
A salary cap is a great start, not this lame excuse for a cap, but a HARD cap. Accompanied by a salary floor...a HARD floor. I realize that will aggravate the four letter network because they may not want to cover all 30 teams and we know that Red Sox, Yankees, and Phillies fans will lose their minds after they have been spoiled over the last decade.
Allowing small/mid market teams to compete in spurts while large markets live in the playoffs is a joke of the sport. No longer are teams able to win by putting together the best front office, solid drafts, and player development. Now teams are able to buy themselves out of mistakes...i.e. the 2010 Giants.
Let's throw some ideas around to fix this sport we all love.
