Heath Bell an Angel? 1 Year, 5 Months ago Karma: 8
Jayson Stark in a recent piece mentioned that the Angels could go after Bell. Obviously if they bring on Carl Crawford that could create quite a cluster.

A few years back Corey Brock mentioned that the Angels and Padres were close to a deal involving Howie Kendrick for Heath Bell. Then the White Sox called and picked up Jake Peavy.

It looks likely that Bell will be in another uniform in 2012. With that said, do you think the Angels could be a good fit?

If so, what do you think would be a reasonable offer?

If not, then what team do you think would be a better fit?

Actually, I wouldn't mind it being the Angels... they're another SoCal team and we could watch him from time to time. I just hope they get their firepower back so they can score some runs to give him opportunities, otherwise, what's the point?

Also not in the NL or in our division.

I like that idea. Not in the NL, a team that won't give up on the race and trade their players, and Howie Kendrick sounds like an awesome fit.
I'd actually like to see that happening this offseason.

I was thinking that the angels should throw in one more minor league player however.
We would have to start with their CF Peter Bourjos.
But if that means we'd have to give up a really good pitching prospect, I think we'd be able to pick someone up like Hank Conger at least.

So, Bell for Kendrick and Conger.
Sounds like one of the best deals I heard of in this offseason.
I'm sure Jed will work it out.

I'd still like to see the Padres work out a deal with Bell. I know he's due for a big raise but Bell seems to really like it here and if he's willing to take the so called "San Diego Discount" I say why not. However if he's not then the Angels make the most sense.

That's true, but he wants a three year deal. Since he is a 33 year old closer that is a huge risk. I think it depends on the dollars.

3yr/18M totally
3yr/ 25M no way

During the season I said they should have worked out a two year deal in the 12-15M range. I see that number within the budget of the team. I don't think he will take that deep of a discount.

A two year deal would be ideal. I think avoiding arbitration would be the smart move for Jed to make as I'm sure Heath will get his through arb.
