No surprise really, especially in the case of Hairston. I still have no idea what the MOY was doing starting Hairston in that Giants series or why Hairston was even on the team at that point.

I fully expect the team to bring back TGJ. Until a deal is worked out expect casual fans to complain about losing him as though he was an All Star player. LOL

I've said it before, the Padres cannot afford to have Tony Gwynn Jr on their roster making around $1M with their limited payroll when they acquired Cameron Maybin that plays the same position. Denorfia, was in my opinion the right choice and I am surprised so many people seem to be shocked by the notation of non tendering Tony Gwynn Jr. Deno will produce off the bench, all the UZR in the world will not help Tony Gwynn produce. The Padres need production off the bench, players who can hit, Deno proved he is valuable last year off the bench and starting games to some degree. I don't care if he looks awkward in the outfield at times, he can hit. Denorfia has displayed exceptional defense playing the corner outfield spots.

ill agree that casual fans will complain.... but him being a all star player is like saying Buster Posey is god, and TG senior was heaven and earth. if we are putting all star requirements that low... i think the entire Pirates team can be considered all stars lol...
