Watching Jedi on MLBNetwork Hot Stove, it's a done deal.
Hopefully Casey Kelly will be a good side piece to Latos.

We all knew, or should have known, Adrian would not remain a padre past 2012.
There was no way the Pads would have given him a 20+ million a year contract. Few teams can to start off with and it would make no sense to give him such a high percentage of the payroll.
You just have to think back to the Nevin/Klesko years and how one player getting such a high percentage of the payroll can hurt the team if he gets hurt.
It would have been nice to see Adrian play this season. But on the other hand, 4 players, even minor prospects, is better than 2 picks in the draft.

Jed has done well over the last few days, Getting a return for Gonzalez instead of one more year then 2 supp draft picks. I have been talking to some fans and have been trying to get them to see the light. Everyone is loving Clayton Richard and we are yet to see the center piece of the peavy trade, Aaron Poreda. A friend of mine who is a scout for the Evil Empire seems to think this is going to be a similar deal, with our return impressing the fans while the ex padre struggling in a new location. Now i like adrian but watching him loaf around the field in september was painful, he looked like he rather had been somewhere else during a PENNANT race. Now i'm not bitter, far from it. I'm a padre fan FIRST and a player fan second. I wish adrian all the best in his future but if he plays like he did in the last month of the season whilst in boston, it will be a very nasty wakeup call in the papers for him....
Now we may have had lost a few players this offseason including gonzo, torrealba, tejada, garland and correia. But i have impressed in what jed has been doing, he seems to be on the ball. Great trade today for Bartlett and Harang and Maybin will make great additions to the team, lets see if we can get either a 1st baseman or 2nd and we'll be in business, remember we havent lost that much in the pitching department that one us all those games.
That being said i'm excited for the rest of the offseason and pumped for season 2011.
MATT LATOS FOR OPENING DAY!!!!!
ps. Nationals execs are on drugs.
