Obviously the first name you think of for fantasy on the Padres is Adri... oh wait. He is gone. Well, lets get into the rest of the baby daddy's potential for breakout fantasy baseball stars to bring our team relevance in a numbers world.

1. Mat Latos - 14-10, 2.92ERA, 184.2IP, 189K
After a solid sophomore season in 2010 Latos is set up to be the staff ace. He is probably in line for the same numbers this season with a few more innings as he has a full season under his belt. Look for his K's and IP to go up and his record and ERA to stay about the same.

2. Cameron Maybin - 291AB, 8HR, 28RBI, 9SB, .234AVG
Looking back at 2010, Maybin never got started. In San Diego, he is expected to take over the job in center full time and it is his to lose. He has the speed to steal some bases and cause havoc in the lead-off spot. Legit power for a top of the order man. All he needs to do is work on his average and K/BB ratio. He is a free swinger. Look for a rise in stats with solid playing time and plenty of gaps to hit to.

3. Jorge Cantu - 472AB, 11HR, 56RBI, 0SB, .256AVG
Sure you're gonna see this and think. What the heck are you thinking. Cantu is slotted to be a utility bench man to cover third, second, and first for the 2011 team. However, I am making a bold prediction to say that Cantu wins out the first baseman job over Brad Hawpe. If Cantu can-do what he did in Florida in 09 where he was part of the 30HR infield. We are looking at a solid replacement to Adrian. He has the potential in our stadium at least to keep have his doubles approach 30-40. He could be in line for many RBI if he gets a starting job. He CAN-TU it.

Now that you guys have seen my top 3 choices for fantasy difference makers. Add your own and see what you can suggest to all those who will overlook Padres who shouldn't when drafting in the later rounds.

I would think Bell has to be up there.

Obviously Heath Bell is in the discussion for fantasy difference maker. However. The point was to get more people involved to write their own reports as I had done.
