With Mat Latos getting the loss in last nights game, his record drops to 0-5 with a 4.86 ERA. He has 10 consecutive losses since last year.
What is wrong with Latos?

Great question. He is having a really hard time settling in during the first inning. I'd love to see how many of his runs have come in the first.
It seems when Johnson and Latos go back to the dugout they seem to get on the same page. I will say, I'm not happy with the pitch calling. When it's obvious Mat's curve isn't working well why on earth does Johnson keep calling for it? And when is he going to call an inside fb?
My one concern is his fastball. He tends to be sitting in the low 90s, when he was living in the mid 90s last season. Not sure if that is still an arm issue. His fly ball to ground ball ratio was not great and that will kill him in CO.
Let's hope some adjustments are mode soon.

I would have to agree with you, and it seems like he had a bit of trouble in the first few inning last year as well.
This year he has given up 6 earned runs in the first and 3 in the second. Which is interesting because this entire season he has given up 18 earned runs.
So half his earned runs have come in the first two innings.
Which is both good and bad, its good because he shows that in the later innings he is very good, but it is bad because he is digging his weak offence into a hole right off the bat.

Big problem areas that stand out is the 4.51 FIP which means he himself isn't pitching well. He's not a victim of our seemingly error-prone defense. Second thing is his HR/9. He's turned into Edward Mujica giving up 1.62 HR/9. As Steve said, his curveball isn't working out and he's leaving right over the plate and hitters just mash it.
Mat's resembling a lot of 2009 where he had similar problems keeping the ball in the infield (and in the park).

I was talking about this during yesterday's game. Mat is a power pitcher who needs to be living in the mid 90's not the low 90's. Sure, maybe his arms is still in Spring Training mode like some have suggested because of his set back. Having said that, Mat Latos's Average fastball this year is 92.3 mph. Compared to last year, when he averaged 94 mph (FanGraphs). The homrun he gave up to Rickie Weeks was a 90 mph fastball.

I am sure the speed of his fastball is a bit of an issue, but we can't forget that location is important as well. It doesn't matter if he hit 100 MPH, if it right down the middle is won't matter.
I think it was when he pitched against PHI, but from what I can remember the two home runs he gave up they were off pitches that weren't where anybody wanted them. (Hence the fact they ended up several rows past the fence).
