I am real happy about the Garland And Yorvit signings this offseason and I think they represent what you might call the San Diego discount. In fact I can't think of any other signings in recent Padres history that would fall under the same kind of category. I like the patience that Hoyer showed this offseason to get upgrades at a value price, what do you think?

I agree on Garland but, I think Torrealba was more good luck and patience by Hoyer. Torrealba and his agent misread the market and paid for it. It's not like Torrealba turned down money to sign with us. The bigger contract he was offered earlier in the season was no longer on the table. Either way it is a positive acquisition.

I think the "San Diego" discount is gone for position players. Hitters are not going to want to be here. On the other hand, every pitcher is going to want to pitch here.

While I love watching a pitcher throw a shut out or strike multiple batters out over his start, I find clutch hits and HRs to be even more exciting to watch while at the game.

2-1 snorefests are something I became acustom to as a fan, and part of the reason I dropped my season tickets.

I don't expect every game to be filled with hits/runs/homeruns...but it would be nice if there was more of a mix.

I'm sure that has nothing to do with Petco.
