Chris Young is just amazing when he is on, but when he is not it can be painful to watch.
A short injury filled career has made me very uncomfortable with CY. Will he be the guy that looked like he would throw the Franchises first no hitter or the guy that is throwing BP on the road.
He is the highest paid Padres on the roster for 2010, what are your expectations?

Abdominal strain or another back related issue by mid June. Oh, and while he is healthy, a heavy dose of walks that may as well be doubles. I really liked him with that high stuff originally, but hitters have realized that if they don't swing @ that pitch, they'll end up @1st...and then take another walk down to 2nd.

agree with just42day. i feel like it hasn't just been the injuries. if hitters are patient they know CY will make a mistake with a below average fastball.

We should run a contest!
Pick the day that CY hits the DL!
Free Padres hat if your within 5 days
If you nail it, I'll take you to a game.

So do I get a hat if no one else plays along? I know I can't be the only one that thinks he's injured before he really gets started. Glad we got Garland today, and I sure hope I'm wrong about C.Y, but my optimism has steadily slipped away with him.

CY has gone from 90.3 avg Fastball in 07 to just over 85 in 09.
The graphs show that he touched 92-94 back in 07.
CY was just simply not right, I commented on it very early on regarding his velocity. It has been pointed out, if he can AVG 89-90 in contrast to 85-88 he will still be very affective, I am sure the injury to his shoulder has to do with some of that as well. I also believe him "altering" his delivery with D Balsley when runners were running on him blind, I didn't like it at the time especially because of his size and how hard it is ALREADY for everything to come mechanically.
Well now we don't have Bard and Barrette behind the plate so he should just pitch the darn ball! Throw over, step off, throw over again, vary your move, don't change your delivery Especially when your 6'10"
Then again we have two inexperienced catchers that will be challenged by would be base stealers.
I still say, THROW THE BALL, and duck yo-
