There seems to be alot of confusion concerning the Padres on MLB Extra Innings...and MLB.TV.

Well...after many phone calls and google searches, I believe the following information should be helpful for those of us that hang out in the "Hood".

If you live outside of the Padres TV territory, which for some strange reason is vast and expansive. Then you can subscribe to to Extra Innings or MLB.TV and watch the Padres.
(Amazingly, from what I can decipher, the Padres claim much of So. Cal, south of Los Angeles, Riverside County, San Diego County, and all of Nevada as their TV territory)
What this means is that you can not view the Padres, unless its on Ch 4. Of course, Ch 4 is not available in all of these areas...but that doesn't seem to concern anyone.)
One caveat about Extra Innings, you will not have access to Channel 4, since they have decided not to share access to their feed.
For those of you that can subscribe to MLB.TV, Ch 4 is made available.

Now, for those us in the Padres TV area, there is a bone Ch 4 and Cox have thrown to us Padres fans; its called Padres.TV. The only catch is that you have to be a subscriber to Cox Broadband Internet. If you are fortunate to be a Cox Internet subscriber, you can buy the package. It includes all Ch 4 streams...live and delayed.
All of the details can be seen at Padres.TV.

And there are bootleg streams...but these van be spotty and many of the pirates do not stream Padres games.

Hope this helps everyone who wants to see our Padres in action. Hopefully, in the coming years, either Ch 4 will license their signal to others, or the Padres will create a TV package that truly allows Padres fans to see their favorite team.

Update...

According to the UT, next Wednesday's game (April 28) at the Florida Marlins, has been picked up by the MLB Network.

The start time is 9:10AM, PDT.

Normally, this game would be blacked out in San Diego and throughout the Padres TV area, however, since Ch 4 is not televising, the blackout will be lifted.

Fox Sports Florida will be handling the play by play.

But, for MLB's streaming services, MLB.TV and Padres.TV, the game will not be available and will be blacked out.

Go figure.

I had Extra Innings through Comcast here in CO 2 years ago. I had about 100 padres games. I don't subscribe now due to my travel schedule.

I believe 2 years ago, the Extra Innings package did have access to Channel 4. Why it was dropped....or that Channel 4 has balked, pardon the pun, at allowing access is a complete mystery to me.

And I wanted to clarify my posts fro above...

The Padres TV area DOES NOT include northern Nevada.
