I was watching ESPN the other night and on Baseball Tonight that Senior Correspondent Buster Olney suggested that the Padres trade Heath Bell and move Luke Gregerson into the closer role. I disagree but was wondering what everyone else thought.

First off before I say how crazy I think that is, it really would depend on what they could get for Bell.

Teams that win games need a closer, teams that don't score a lot of runs and win games REALLY need a closer. That's the Padres.

I think what is more likely to happen is that Adams could be moved and you could see Webb, Luke, Bell. It all really depends on Jed's ability to bring in a bat.

I said before the season that Luke is the closer in 2011 and I still stand by that. Bell is premium trade bait in the winter, but for the time being this team needs him if they want to stay in the race.

haha just kidding. I agree with steve. I'm really high on Webb, it looks like he has some killer stuff, late life on that fastball and he would slot nicely into the 7th inning spot very easily. Heath isn't allowed to go anywhere and i will be upset when he does get traded but at the moment he needs to stay because we aren't posting many big run games and we need to be lights out through the last 3 innings when we usually wake up and hit a balls around the park.
