The Padres have been looking for a RH hitter that can play CF. Not much if anything was left in the FA pool.

I don't see much drop off from Kouz to Headley.

The drop off from Hairston to some scub at this points seems much larger.

Also remember that Scott is arguably the best Padres hitter Petco has seen. Scotty owns lefties and will be able to hit behind AGON.

I don't know if I can give the deal a letter grade. I do like the trade though. We traded away from our strength to fill a weakness. We also got a very good prospect. We needed to get Headley out of LF and back to his natural position. I think Headley has more upside than Kouzmanoff. He's also younger and cheaper. Cunningham adds depth to the outfield when we need to trade Gonzalez.

I like Cunningham. I think he can be dangerous if he is brought along correctly.
