Friars Fall Short In Colorado, Lose Series. 

Coors FieldThe Padres came in with a big statement win, giving them a chance to win one out of two to take their first series of 2012. But consecutive losses sent them back home 1-5 on their first road trip. The Friars will face a daunting task in doing so the next series as they play four games starting Thursday against the Philadelphia Philles. Below is a recap of their three game series in the mile high city of Denver, Colorado.

Cory Luebke pitched seven strong innings and Chase Headley went 3-5 with three doubles to lead the Padres over the Rockies 7-1. Luebke had his best start yet striking out four while walking only one.

The Padres jumped to an early 2-0 lead with three doubles by Will Venable, Headley, and Nick Hundley in the first. Cameron Maybin added another run with a sac fly in the second.

Tyler Colvin batted in Michael Cuddyer with a single to right, scoring Colorado
