Friars Look Divine With Series Victory Over the Denver Nine.
The Padres won their second series of the season with timely hitting, led by rookie first baseman Yonder Alonso, taking the first two games from the Rockies in San Diego. Alonso went 5-10 with four RBIs and two walks, raising his average to .292. The series also saw the first win by starter Edinson Volquez as well as another win from the ageless Jeff Suppan.

Edinson Volquez got spotted an early lead lead by Yonder Alonso and the San Diego bullpen held on to give him his first victory as Padre.
Alonso smashed a grounder up the middle with two outs to score Cam Maybin from second to give the Padres a 1-0 lead in the first.
