Good:

Edinson Volquez – I suppose this is where I’m supposed to say that Volquez pitched like an ace tonight and helped the Padres end a losing skid.  I’m not going to go that far, but he was great tonight.  7IP, 5H, 0ER, 0BB, 3K.

Carlos Quentin – 2-4 HR (1).  Carlos game the Padres a lead in the 4th and they never looked back.

Bad:

Bud Black – I’m nitpicking here, but having one of the hottest hitters on the team, Hundley bunt with men on first and second and no outs, only to have Denorifa mowed down at 3rd, was just another bad decision.

I will say that Corey Brock writer for Padres.com came out in strong support of Black today.  Black is claiming that he hasn’t called for any sacrifice bunts this season, players are making those calls themselves.  Your guess who the genius behind this call was.

Ugly:

9th inning – Street gets two quick outs followed by defense blunders from Gyorko and Amarista to cut the lead in half.  It was ugly, but the Padres walk away with a W.
