Good:

Andrew Cashner – 4IP, 2H, 2ER, 1BB, 5K, 1HRA.  A spot start for a sick Clayton Richard, Cashner held his own against the World Champions.

Anthony Bass – Combined 4IP, 1H, 0ER, 2BB, 2K.  The bullpen shut it down tonight.

Brad Brach

Joe Thatcher

Everth Cabrera – 2-3, SB (5), BB.  Some food for thought.

When hitting lead off:

  • 2013: .325/.413/.450
  • 2012 .282/.352/.327.

When hitting second:

  • 2013: .200/.304/.400
  • 2012: .132/.233/.226

Bad:

Strikeouts – 9 strikeouts for the friars tonight and 23 for the series.  (Broken record)In a pitchers park like AT&T, you have to put the ball in play.  It’s not as though you are in Colorado and you are swinging for the fences.

Ugly:

Hitting with RISP: 1-7 tonight.  We all know the Padres need to win with pitching, defense, and timely hitting.
