Maybin Returns to DL with PCL Injury

Cameron Maybin

Cameron Maybin

Cameron Maybin will be returning to the Disabled List as it was announced today that he had suffered a torn PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament) in his left knee after awkward landing on it against the Rockies in the Eighth Inning on Sunday. Cameron sustained the injury after making a diving catch in center field.

Maybin had just been activated off of the 15-Day DL last Thursday, and will be returning again just after appearing in 4 games with the big league club. He went 5-for-18 in those four games, hitting a homerun and collecting 4 RBI. Maybin was hitting a combined .157 on the season with 4 stolen bases between his stints on the DL.

Team physicians reported that Maybin will be out of the lineup for at least six weeks, possibly more. With Maybin hitting the DL once again, the Padres have to look for options in replacing him on the 40 man roster. A corresponding move should hopefully be announced sometime this week.
