NL West Rumor Mill: 7/12/13

Padres Make Flurry of Moves
– Both first basemen Yonder Alonso and second basemen Jedd Gyorko were reinstated from the 15- day disabled list. Alonso missed 34 games with a broken right hand and Gyorko missed 30 games with a right groin strain.
– Corner outfielder/first basemen Kyle Blanks was placed on the 15-day DL
– Right-handed starter Sean O’Sullivan had his contract purchased from Triple-A Tucson so he could be added to the 40-man roster.
– Infielder Pedro Ciriaco was designated for assignment. He was out of minor league options. The Padres hope to retain him and send him to Triple-A.
– Right-handed reliever Miles Mikolas was optioned to Triple-A.
– Left-handed starter Clayton Richard was moved from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL. He is done for the season as he is expected to e surgery on his left clavicle so he no longer has has trouble with his left AC joint.
– After all these moves, the Padres now have 39 players on their 40-man roster. Who gets the last spot?
Peavy a Diamondback?
ESPN’s Buster Olney tweeted Friday that the Diamondbacks are at least discussing a trade for White Sox starter Jake Peavy, noting that the Sox have scouted Diamondbacks young starter Randall Delgado.
