Padres Relievers Gathering Serious Interest
Every now and then for the past few weeks, little rumors and speculation have popped up regarding interest in Padres relievers. Not until yesterday though did things seem to start to pickup. According to Jon Morosi of FOX Sports (Twitter links), scouts from the Tigers, Braves, Phillies, Dodgers and Pirates are all in attendance to watch the four-game series between the the Padres and Brewers.
The Brewers dealt right-hander Francisco Rodriguez yesterday in a trade with the Orioles, but it seems they aren’t eager to deal any other relievers. The Padres, however, are still fielding offers. Morosi tweeted yesterday that the Tigers “are showing continued interest” in set-up man Luke Gregerson. Gregerson’s name was linked to the team in trade talks last winter. Morosi also heard that the Braves, who are said to be in the market for a left-handed specialist, are interested in Joe Thatcher.
Unlike past reports, these ones seem to actually have some substance to them. Stay tuned.
