Padres in on Kennedy?

Steve Gilbert of says the Padres (Yes, the Padres) and the Angels are among the teams interested in Diamondbacks right-hander Ian Kennedy. However, Buster Olney of ESPN notes “probably won’t happen with SD.”

Dodgers New Front Runners for Wilson

Update: According Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times, Wilson’s deal with the Dodgers is a major league deal. Will be sent to minors on a rehab assignment.

USA Today’s Bob Nightengale tweets that the Los Angeles Dodgers are now considered the new front runners for former Giants closer Brian Wilson.

According to Scott Miller of CBS Sports, Wilson has narrowed is decision down to about three or four teams and is in the “offer/counter-offer” stage at this point.

Giants’ Hunter Pence Gathering Interest

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Reds and Yankees have inquired about Giants outfielder Hunter Pence. Heyman also mentions the Pirates and Rangers as teams interested in Pence.

Rockies Interested in Cubs’ Gregg

Recently, interest in Cubs closer Kevin Gregg has been very quiet despite the expectation that he will be traded before tomorrow afternoon’s deadline. Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post reports, however, that the Rockies have had interest in the right-hander.

Dbacks Favorites to Land Peavy’s Gordon Edes tweets that the Diamondbacks have emerged as the front runner for White Sox starter Jake Peavy. The Red Sox have also been connected to the right-hander.

Worth Noting:

- ESPN’s Jayson Stark reports the Dodgers and Angels have had a “mostly casual conversation” about Halos second baseman Howie Kendrick. Nothing serious has developed yet though.

- Starks also mentions that the Diamondbacks have made starter Ian Kennedy and closer J.J. Putz available in trades. One exec says the Dbacks “really want to move Kennedy all of a sudden,” apparently to clear money for another move. Trading Kennedy would allow Arizona to clear around $1.4MM.

Will keep updating throughout the day as more rumors and speculation pop-up. Stay tuned.
