Dodgers Acquire Nolasco
After being ruled the front-runners for Marlins starter Ricky Nolasco, the Dodgers have finally acquired the right-hander in a four-player trade.
According to Jeff Todd of MLBTradeRumors.com, “Along with Nolasco, the Dodgers will receive the rights to international signing bonus slot number 96, which carries a $196k bonus allocation”. They will also take on all of the approximately $5.5 million that is left on Nolasco’s contract.
Not too long ago, all teams in the NL West looked to be buyers at the trade deadline. However, do to recent play, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle argues that unless the the Giants can manage at least a .500 mark on their current homestand, they should consider trading players such as Hunter Pence, Javier Lopez, and Tim “The Freak” Lincecum.
The Padres find themselves in a similar situation and might consider trading a guy like Carlos Quentin. The Yankees and Rangers are possibilities as they are both looking for offensive up-grades.
