portland-beaversMuch like the prior month for the Beavers, June held little in the way of favors for the Triple A Padres Affiliate. Portland was 12 and 16 for June. Portland had to contend with a more dynamic line-up in June. 2B Lance Zawadzki and Catcher Dusty Ryan were often times sent to the Padres. Outfielders Chris Denorfia and Aaron Cunningham have almost become permanent fixtures for the Padres in June and both were serious offensive producers for the Beavos prior to their departures.

Mike BaxterOF/IF Mike Baxter

Top offensive player of the month goes to Mike Baxter. Mike led the beavers in Hits (30), Runs Scored (18), RBIs (20) and HRs (4). He had a .288 AVG for June and hit for the cycle in Reno on June 8th. He was selected the PCL offensive player of the week for June 7-13. Mike had eight two-out RBI situations in which he produced.

frieriP Ernesto Frieri

For the third month in a row! Trying to pick the pitcher of the month with Beavers’ incredible bullpen is hard but it has to go to the closer Ernesto Frieri. He repeats his April feat in June by not giving up a single earned or unearned run. In 10.2 innings of work, he gave up only 3 hits and 3 walks, picking up 6 saves and 1 win. He also struck out 8. He was selected as the representative to the Triple A All-Star Game for the Portland Beavers.
