The conclusion of the Arizona Fall League was the end of off-season activities for several of the Padres minor leaguers but there are still many involved in the various winter leagues that make up the Caribbean Season.  I included some updates on those players with the AFL reports and will continue them here, through the end of the Caribbean season. There are also a couple players involved in the winter league for their respective countries (Canada and Australia) that will be updated here as well.

Corey Adamson OF is playing in Australia for the Perth team and their season has just begun. With only 5 AB currently, Corey has a .286 avg.

Everth Cabrera SS has returned from his hamstring injury and is now playing in the Mexican Pacific League. In 5 games he is hitting .286/.304/.333 in that small sample size.

Michael Collins C/1B  recently became a free agent but is having a good early season with a .375/.436/.406 line in 22 games and 64 AB. He has 10 RBI, 10 BB and 10 SO.

Luis Durango OF continues his light hitting ways in 17 games and 55 AB. His .200/.313/.218 line increases my suspicion that he will not be the versatile 4^th outfielder that many of us hoped he might become for the parent club.

Oscar Salazar IF/OF has played in 28 games with 112 AB and a .259/.297/.351 line with 5 2B, 2 HR, 14 RBI, 6 BB and 16 SO.  The Caribbean Series features a lot more free swinging than MLB teams generally encourage. The strikeout rates are typically higher.

Ali Solis C has played in 30 games with 85 AB with 2 2B, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 6 BB and 28 SO for a .261/.309/.352 line. Even in the free swinging Caribbean environment, that is a lot of K’s.

Pitchers Matt Buschmann and Radhames Liz continue to impress in their winter season. Buschman, playing on the same team as Solis in the Mexican Pacific League, has a 5-1 record with a 2.95 ERA in 9 games started and 58 IP. He has surrendered 4 HR and 21 BB but has 44 SO.

Liz carries a 3-3 record with a 2.11 ERA in 8 games started and 42.2 IP with 2 HR, 15 BB and 37 SO.

Lefty Juan Oramas has come back down to earth from his amazing minor league start in 2010 but possesses a 3.86 ERA and a 1-1 record in 6 games started and 22.1 IP. He has allowed a HR, 15 BB, and has 21 SO.

Reliever Luis Perdomo, who was just released then resigned by the Padres, has a 2-0 record and 2.35 ERA in 10 appearances and 7.2 IP. He has 6 BB and 4 SO.

Lefty Cesar Ramos has pitched in 16 games, started in 14, and has a 2-4 record and 4.55 ERA in 63.1 IP. He has allowed 2 HR, 22 BB and has 30 SO in those accumulated innings. Cesar had a full season at AAA in 2010 and this off season might decide his future with the Padres.

Mauricio Tabachnik , a 21 yr old righty reliever who played for Eugene in 2010, recently joined the winter league roster of the Mexicali team in the Mexican Pacific League.  Mauricio, a native of Mexico City, signed as a free agent in 2008. He played in Eugene in both the ’09 and ’10 seasons. In 8 games and 9 IP he has a 1-0 record and 3.00 ERA
