Kevin Quackenbush continues to dominate MWL batters while picking up a save against the Lug Nuts. Eric Patterson stays super hot for the T-Pads but they get blown out by Oklahoma City. Tucson Padres 2, Oklahoma City Redhawks 10
Notes: Suddenly Eric Patterson, who has been flirting with the Mendoza line for the last 2 months, is red-hot. He has 12 hits in his last 4 games, 5 of them for extra bases. Rob Musgrave has bounced between the bullpen and the rotation, as well as Tucson and San Antonio. This was his 4th start for the T-Pads. He has allowed only 2 hits to the 16 PCL lefties he has faced, 4 of them by strikeout.
San Antonio Missions
Notes: Matt Lollis has now made 9 relief appearances, and his ERA has not improved appreciably. His K:BB ratio has improved significantly as has his overall WHIP. It is not believed that Lollis will be moved into a permanent relief role, it is more likely a way to limit his innings. Jeudy Valdez is off to a red-hot start in August, going 13-36 with 7 extra base hits.
Fort Wayne Tincaps 6, Lansing Lug Nuts 5
Notes: In his first 6.2 MWL innings Kevin Quackenbush has allowed only 4 hits while striking out 9 batters and walking only 2. In 27.1 total professional innings he has allowed only 1 run. Rymer Liriano received a rare day off but Connor Powers picked up the slack offensively to make it 6 multi-hit games in the last 7 games.
Eugene Emeralds 13, Salem-Kaizer Volcanoes 7
Notes: Shortstop Jace Peterson was removed from the game in the fifth inning, but no injury was apparent or reported at the time this is being written. West Point product Clint Moore got his first hits since coming back from injury on Monday, he had not played since July 7th. Matt Andriese has allowed only 4 runs on 23 hits in his last 35.2 IP.
AZL Padres 7, AZL Reds 3
Notes: Lefty Robert Eisenbach got a start after 10 straight relief appearances in which he allowed 5 ER. As a reliever he compiled a 2.01 ERA in 22.1 innings striking out 16 and walking only 4. He has held left handed batters to a measly .152 batting average against. Duanel Jones is the best known, highest-ceiling prospect on the team and he went deep for the 3rd straight day.
