Here is your Padres Daily Farm Round Up for July 24, 2010
Portland Beavers 1, Las Vegas 51’s 9 Cedric Hunter-CF: 1-3, 2b Nick Green-SS: 1-3, 2b, RBI Mike DeMark-RP: 1.0 IP, 2 K’s, No runs allowed
San Antonio Missions 1, Midland Rock Hounds 2 Matt Clark-1B: 2-4, 2b Blake Tekkote-CF: 1-4, Stolen base Tyler Lumsden-SP: 7.0 IP, 1 hit, one ER, 5 BB, 4 K’s Brandon Gomes-RP: 2.0 IP, 2 hits, 4 K’s Notes: Gomes domination of the Texas League makes one wonder why he isn’t in Portland yet, where some relievers are struggling. Gomes has a 1.84 ERA in 53.2 innings with a 67/17 K/BB ratio and a .215 BA against.
Lake Elsinore Storm 0, Bakersfield Blaze 2 Allan Dykstra-1B: 1-3 Robert Lara-C: 1-3 Nick Vincent-RP: 3.0 IP, 3 hits, 3 K’s, No runs allowed Brad Brach-RP: 1.0 IP, 1 hit, No runs allowed Notes: The Storm managed only four hits during the game, none for extra bases. The Blaze’s starter, Wilfredo Boscan, pitched seven scoreless innings allowing only three hits, no walks, and striking out six batters.
Fort Wayne Tin Caps 2, Peoria Chiefs1 Danny Payne-CF: 1-3 Jedd Gyorko (pronounced Jerk-O)-DH: 1-3, Run scored Nathan Freiman-1B: 1-2, Home run, 2 RBI Jose DePaula-SP: 5.0 IP, 4 hits, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K’s Jeff Ibarra-RP: 2.0 IP, 1 hit, 1 BB, 3 K’s, No runs allowed Notes: The Tincaps managed only three hits all game but that was enough, as Freiman’s fourth inning homerun provided Fort Wayne’s only runs of the game with Jedd Gyorko on base. Gyorko has hit safely in every game as a Tincap for a .467 average since being called up from Eugene on 7-21.
Eugene Emeralds 4, Vancouver Canadians 7 Chris Bisson-2B: 2-5, 2 2b, Run scored, Caught Stealing Luis Domoromo-RF: 2-5 Oscar Garcia-CF: 3-5, 3b, 2 RBI, Run scored Keyvius Sampson-SP: 4.0 IP, 4 Hits, 5 ER, 3 BB, 7 K’s Notes: Sampson had, by far, his worst start of the season. He had allowed 7 ER over his last seven starts while striking out 46 before Saturday. All things considered his worst start of the year really wasn’t that bad though.
AZL Padres 2, AZL Rangers 8 Brian Guinn-2B: 1-3, BB, Caught stealing Donovan Tate-CF: 0-3, Run Scored, BB, 2 K’s Joe Agreste-1B: 1-4, 2b, RBI, Run scored Erick Ojeda-RP: .2 IP, 1 hit, 2 K’s Notes: After striking out twice more on Saturday, Donovan Tate brought his grand total to 27 on the season in only 55 AB’s, for those of you who aren’t math majors that means he has struck out in more that half of his at bats.
