Sharing is Caring
Here is your Padres Daily Farm Round Up for July 31, 2010

Portland Beavers 4, Salt Lake City Bees 3

Luis Durango-LF: 0-2, 2 BB, 2 runs scored, Stolen base

Cedric Hunter-CF: 2-5, Run scored

Mike Baxter-RF: 2-4, HR (12), BB, 2 RBI

Wily Mo Pena-DH: 1-3, RBI

Josh Geer-SP: 7.0 IP, 9 hits, 3 ER, 6 K’s, Win

Adam Russell-RP: 1.0 IP, 1 hit, Save (5)

Notes: Wily Mo Pena has been a boon for the Beavers offense since joining the team on July 19th.  In 12 games Pena has collected 10 RBI with 2 homers and a .963 OPS.

Antonio Missions 11, Frisco Rough Riders 4

Blake Tekkotte-CF: 2-5, 2b, RBI, 2 runs scored

Logan Forsythe-2B: 1-3, 2 BB, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored

James Darnell-3B: 0-3, RBI, 2 BB

Andrew Parrino-DH: 2-5, 2b, HR, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored

Matt Clark-1B: 1-4, HR (20), 3 RBI, BB, 2 runs scored

Jeremy Hefner-SP: 8.0 IP, 9 hits, 3 ER, BB, 5 K’s

Notes: Hefner reminded us that, while the loss of Corey Kluber will hurt, there are still some legit pitchers in San Antonio. While he is not the talent that Kluber was, Hefner has been remarkably consistent. He has posted an ERA under 4 during each month of the season, and an ERA 3.32 or lower in 3 out of 4 months.

Lake Elsinore Storm 14, Visalia Rawhide 3

Jaff Decker-LF: 1-3, Run scored, 2 BB, Outfield assist

Cole Figueroa-2B: 1-5, 2 RBI

Allen Dykstra-DH: 2-4,2b, HR (11), BB, 2 runs scored

Jesus Lopez-SS: 3-5, 2b, RBI, 2 runs scored, stolen base, Stolen base

Robert Lara-C: 3-2, HR (7), 2 BB, 2 RBI, 3 runs scored

Juan Oramas-SP: 2.0 IP,  1 HR allowed, 1 hit, 1 ER, BB, 5 K’s

Notes: Oramas, a 20 year old Mexican lefty, has been the de-facto ace of the Lake Elsinore staff. He appears to be nearing his innings limit for the year however; he has not pitched past the second inning since June 14th.

Fort Wayne Tin Caps 1, Great Lakes Loons 2

Danny Payne-CF: 1-4, BB, Stolen base, 3 would-be base stealers thrown out

Edinson Rincon-3B: 1-4

Everett Williams-LF: 1-4

Dan Meeley-RF: 1-2, RBI, BB

Pedro Hernandez-SP: 6.0 IP, 4 hits, 1 ER, BB, 4 K’s

Notes: Hernandez has shown remarkable improvement since being shifted from the bullpen into a starting role. In 35.0 IP in felief, he allowed 46 hits and 7 walks, allowing a .311 BA against. In his 8 starts and 37.0 IP since becoming a starter he has allowed 42 hits and 5 walks for a .282 BA against. The numbers won’t floor anyone either way but it is certainly an improvement.

Eugene Emeralds 1, Spokane Indians 9

Jablonski “Rico” Noel-CF: 0-3, 2 BB, RBI

Rymer Liriano-RF: 1-4

Luis Domoromo-LF: 2-4

Tyler Stubblefield-2B: 2-4, Run scored

Adys Portillo-SP: 3.0 IP, 3 hits, 4 runs allowed, 3 ER, 5 BB, 5 K’s

Notes: Rymer Liriano, a 19 year old Dominican prospect, continues an excellent showing in the NWL this year. After batting .326 in June with 3 extra base hits in 12 games, Liriano has kept up the pace. For July he hit .315 with 11 extra base hits in 23 games.

AZL Padres 3, AZL Reds 4

Brian Guinn-SS: 1-2, 2 BB, 2 runs scored, 2 stolen bases

Donovan Tate-CF: 1-4, RBI, K

Jhonaldo Pozo-C: 3-4, 2b

Adam Schrader-SP: 6.0 IP, 3 hits, 1 ER, 5 K’s

Alessio Angelucci-RP: 2.0 IP, 1 hit, Unearned run

Notes: The AZL padres dropped to 9 and 14 in the month of July including four game and five game losing streaks. The AZL Padres are 12-19 overall on the season.
