Padres Daily Farm Round Up: 4-15-11 Missions issue 26 run beatdown to NW Arkansas as Jaff and Cody Decker mash 2 homers each. Castro rebounds, Rizzo goes deep as T-Pads drop home opener. Storm limited to 3 hits for second night in a row.
Tucson Padres 6, Salt Lake City Bees 7 Everth Cabrera-SS: 1-5, RBI Logan Forythe-2B: 1-4, Run scored Aaron Cunningham-RF: 3-5, 2b, 3b, RBI, Run scored, Caught stealing, K Matt Clark DH: 1-4 Anthony Rizzo-3-4, BB, 2b, HR, 2 runs scored, Stolen base Guillermo Quiroz-C: 1-3, BB, RBI, Run scored Simon Castro-SP: 6.0 IP, 4 hits, 3 BB, 3 ER, 5 K’s, 2 HR allowed
Notes: Castro rebounded from a disastrous first start by tossing six solid innings and leaving the T-Pads locked in a 3-3 tie entering the seventh. The two pitchers who followed, Greg Burke and Randy Flores, imploded to the tune of 4 runs over an inning and two thirds condemning the T-Pads to a loss on their home opener. Anthony Rizzo blasted his second homer and stole his second base while boosting his average to
San Antonio Missions 26, Northwest Arkansas Naturals 5 Jaff Decker-LF: 3-5, 2 BB, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 3 runs scored Kyle Blanks-DH: 3-6, BB, 2b, 4 runs scored James Darnell-3B: 4-5, 2 BB, 2 2b, RBI, 5 runs scored Cody Decker-1B: 4-7, 2b, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 4 runs scored Blake Tekkotte-CF: 2-4, 2 BB, 2b, HR, 2 K’s Dan Robertson RF: 2-5, 2 BB, 2b, HR, 4 RBI, 3 runs scored, Stolen base Josh Spence-RP: 1.0 IP, 2 K’s Aaron Breit-RP: 1.0 IP, 1 BB
Notes: Despite posting a monstrous 26 runs against naturals pitching, The Missions went only 12-22 with runners in scoring position and left 10 runners on base. Northwest Arkansas starter Will Smith gave up six hits and walked one while facing only 9 batters helping The Missions to post 11 runs by the end of the 2nd inning. Cody Decker now leads the team with 5 home runs and James Darnell is currently operating with a .467 batting average to lead the team.
Lake Elsinore Storm 1, High Desert Mavericks 2 Reymond Fuentes-CF: 0-3 Jedd Gyorko-DH: 1-3, BB, 2 K’s, Picked off Daniel Killian-C: 1-3, 2b Jonathan Galvez-SS: 1-3, 2b, Run scored Rico Noel-LF: 0-3 Mike Watt-SP: 5.0 IP, 3 hits, 3 BB, 1 ER, 7 K’s
Notes: Call him Dustin Moseley; because Mike Watt’s 3 hit gem went unrewarded by his offense. After scattering three hits over 6 innings, Watt only gave up a run on a fielder’s choice in the fourth inning. Jonathan Galvez’s throwing error plated a run in the bottom of the eighth, dooming The Storm who managed only 3 hits all night. The second night in a row The Storm were limited to such a number. Reymond Fuentes’ hitting streak came to an end at 7.
