Padres Daily Farm Round Up: 4-20-11
Tremblay scores his first base hit of the season. Storm let down Watt for second start in a row. Everth Cabrera finding his way offensively as T-Pads notch first consecutive victories of the year.
Tucson Padres 6, Salt Lake City Bees 4 Everth Cabrera-SS: 2-4, BB, K, Caught stealing Anthony Rizzo-1B: 3-4, BB, HR (4), 2 RBI, 2 runs scored Aaron Cunningham-RF: 1-3, RBI Matt Clark-LF: 2-4, 2b, RBI Logan Forsythe-2B: 0-4, BB, K, 2 runs scored Simon Castro-SP: 5.0 IP, 6 hits 3 ER, 4 BB, 4 K’s Aaron Poreda-RP: 1.0 IP, 2 K’s
Notes: Aaron Poreda continues to impress as he has now run his streak of walk-less innings to 4 and earned his first hold of the year. In those 4 games he has struck out 6 and has not allowed a run. Everth Cabrera has improved his batting average nicely, hitting safely in each of the last 7 games. Even more impressive is the fact that Cabrera has only struck out twice in that time. Evan Scribner collected his 3rd save of the season.
San Antonio Missions Day Off
Lake Elsinore Storm 3, High Desert Mavericks 5 Reymond Fuentes-CF: 1-5, 2 K’s, outfield assist Jedd Gyorko-3B: 2-3, RBI Jeudy Valdez-2B: 1-4 Jason Hagerty-C: 0-4 Dean Anna-2B: 2-4 Nate Freiman-1B: 1-4, 2b, Run scored Mike Watt-SP: 4.1IP, 7 hits, 5 runs allowed, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 K’s
Notes: After pitching 5 innings of one run ball with 7 K’s in his last outing, Mike Watt again got no love from his team mates. The defensively challenged Storm committed two errors in the game leading to 3 unearned runs and a loss for Watt. Jedd Gyorko has tallied exactly 2 hits in each of the last three contests including 4 doubles.
Game 1 Fort Wayne Tin Caps 2, West Michigan Whitecaps 5 Chris Bisson-2B: 1-4, K, Caught stealing Chris Tremblay-3B: 1-2, BB, Run scored, K Jake Blackwood-DH: 0-2, BB, K Tommy Medica-1B: 1-3, Run scored BabaWande Olabisi-LF: 1-2, BB, K, 2 RBI Keyvius Sampson-SP: 5.0 IP, 3 hits, 3 BB, 2 K’s

Notes: Keyvius Sampson allowed hit first runs and suffered his first loss of the season after two utterly dominant outings. Despite having by far his worst outing Sampson’s numbers are still truly remarkable: in 16 innings Sampson has allowed 5 hits, walked 4, struck out 21 and held his opponents to a .098 batting average. The Friarhood would like to congratulate Chris Tremblay on getting the monkey off his back by collecting his first hit of the year.
