Sharing is Caring

Round_Up_Image_234Jose Dore continues his recent power surge to bring the Tincaps back to life in a narrow victory over West Michigan. Jeremy Hefner turns in his best start of the season but the offense is unable to support him in a T-Pads loss.

Tucson Padres 2, Omaha Storm Chasers 1

Logan Forsythe-SS: 1-5, RBI

Jarrett Hoffpauir-2B: 1-4, K

Aaron Cunningham-RF: 2-4, K

Anthony Rizzo-1B: 0-4, 2 K’s

Jesus Guzman-3B: 1-3, BB

Matt Clark-LF: 1-3, K

Luis Martinez-C: 1-4, Run scored

Alex Cintron-DH: 2-3, BB

Jeremy Hefner-SP: 6.0 IP, 3 hits, 3 BB, 2 RA, 1 ER, 6 K’s, L (0-4)

Colt Hynes-RP: 1.0 IP, 2  hits

Notes: Colt Hynes prevented a runner from crossing the plate for the first time since his promotion from San Antonio. In 5 AAA appearances Colt has allowed 8 ER on 12 hits, saddling him with an 11.37 ERA. Jeremy Hefner ended up taking the loss despite his best start of the year. For the first time in 5 starts Jeremy was able to keep the ball in the yard and matched his season high in K’s with 6. It was only the third time this season that he completed the 6th inning and the first time he allowed fewer than 4 hits. Alex Cintron made his first start as a DH this season.

San Antonio Missions 6, Frisco Rough Riders 4

Dan Robetson-CF: 1-6

Jaff Decker-LF: 0-4, BB, 3 K’s, Outfield assist

Beamer Weems-SS: 2-3, 2 BB, 2b, Run scored

Eddy Rodriguez-C: 1-5, 2b, RBI, Run scored

James Darnell-3B: 1-4, BB, RBI

Kyle Blanks-DH: 2-4, Run scored

Vince Belnome-1B: 3-5, 2b, 2 RBI

Anthony Contreras-2B: 2-5, Run scored, K

Aaron Breit-SP: 4.2 IP, 8 hits, 2 BB, 4 RA, 3 ER, 5 K’s

Erik Hamren-RP: 2.0 IP, 1 hit, BB, K

Brad Brach-RP: 1.0 IP, 3 hits, 2 ER, HR allowed. L (0-2)

Notes: Brad Brach blew a save for just the second time this season, he was the victim of a Davis Stoneburner home run and a Leonys Martin triple. It was only the second time all season that Brad allowed a home run. In his previous 9 appearances Brach had allowed only 2 ER while striking out 15 and walking 3. Eric Hamren continues to be very impressive in a Missions uniform, he has not allowed a run in 7.2 IP and has 7 K’s. As expected Dan Robertson filled in for Blake Tekotte in center field and figures to get most of the playing time there, Sawyer Carroll will likely receive more playing time as well.

Lake Elsinore Storm 16, Lancaster Jet Hawks 4

Reymond Fuentes-CF: 2-6, RBI, Run scored, K

Jeudy Valdez-SS: 3-5, 2b, 2 RBI, 3 runs scored, 2 K’s

Jedd Gyorko-DH: 4-5, 2 2b, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored, K

Edinson Rincon-3B: 2-5, 2b, RBI, 2 runs scored, K

Dan Meeley-RF: 2-5, 3b, 3 RBI, Run scored, K

Jason Hagerty-C: 3-5, 2 2b, HR (4), 5 RBI, 2 runs scored

Jonathan Galvez-2B: 1-3, 2 BB, 2 runs scored, K, 2 stolen bases (11)

Matt Lollis-SP: 5.0 IP, 6 hits, BB, 3 ER, 7 K’s, HR allowed W (3-4)

Dustin Pease-RP: 1.0 IP, K

Notes: Matt Lollis matched a season high in strikeouts and walked on or fewer for the 5th time this season. Overall though the season has been a real roller coaster for Matt, he has allowed 4 runs or more in 6 starts and an opponents batting average of .300 or higher in 5 starts. After his long hitting streak came to an end on the 21st and going hitless on the 22nd Jedd Gyorko jumped right back on the horse with a 4 hit game. Even with those two hitless games included Gyorko is batting .452 with 5 home runs over the last 10 games. Jeudy Valdez has been similarly hot of late posting a .386 average in his last 10 games with 3 extra base hits.

Fort Wayne Tincaps 4, West Michigan Whitcaps 2

Tommy Medica-1B: 0-4, BB, 4 K’s

Jake Blackwood-3B: 1-5, 2b, 2 RBI, 2 K’s

Wes Cunningham-DH: 1-4, BB, Run scored, K

Rymer Liriano-RF: 2-4, BB, 2b, 3b, RBI, Run scored, K

Emmanuel Quiles-C: 1-4, Run scored

Brian Guinn-SS: 1-3

Rico Noel-CF: 0-4, 2 K’s

Andrew Werner-SP: 6.0 IP, 8 hits, 2 ER, 5 K’s

Jeff Ibarra-RP: 1.1 IP, 2 K’s

Justin Dominick-RP: 1.0 IP, Save (7)

Notes: Andrew Werner continues to emerge as Fort Wayne’s second best starter. The University of Indianapolis was undrafted but received an invite to special, invitation only, tryout during spring training. The 6’2” lefty impressed scouts enough for the Padres to tender him a contract and he is paying early dividends. His first start was simply brilliant, he held Bowling Green to one hit and 2 walks over 6 innings while striking out 6. His second start was a bit rough but since then Andrew has rattled off a run of 6 straight starts pitching at least 5 innings and allowing 3 or fewer runs. He shows good ground ball tendencies and his K:BB ratio is better than 3:1. The ‘caps found themselves on the wrong end of 2-1 score headed into the top of the 9th but Jose Dore rocked his 3rd home run in 5 days. In the top of the 10th BJ Guinn led off the inning with a single but was thrown out at home on a Rymer Liriano grounder. Liriano would bring home the winning run when Jake Blackwood doubled to left.
