The Emeralds watched their season-high winning streak come to an end on Friday night, losing to Tri-City 3-0. It was Michael Jackson night at PK Park, as the Emeralds tried to break the world record for the most people doing the Moonwalk at one time. The Em's couldn't capitalize on the fun, mustering only three hits, two of them by Chris Tremblay. Adys Portillo started for the Em's, and went 4 2/3 innings, walking four, but he did manage seven strikeouts. Allen Marona took the loss, allowing a solo homerun in his 1.1 innings of work. All of Tri-Cities runs came via the solo homerun. The Emeralds fell to 13-15. Date: 7/15/10
The Emeralds won their season-high fifth game in a row, taking down the Tri-City Dust Devils, 3-1. The story was once again was dominant pitching. This time, it was Matthew Lollis' chance to shine, and that is exactly what he did. He threw six shutout innings, allowing just one hit, one walk and five strikeouts. The bullpen finished the effort, allowing just two base-runners in the final three innings. The Emeralds got two runs in the fourth inning, on a bases-loaded walk to first baseman Connor Powers, and another run scored on a wild pitch. Rocky Gale socked an RBI double in the sixth, extending the lead to 3-1. Rymer Liriano went 2-4, including his 11th stolen base, which leads the Northwest League. The Em's improved to 13-14. The Emeralds rolled past the Tri-City Dust Devils Wednesday night, winning 3-1. Keyvius Sampson continued his dominance of the Northwest League, throwing five hitless innings. He did struggle with his control at times, walking four. Tri-City got their only run in the top of the fifth, on a sacrifice fly. Chris Tremblay continued to swing a hot bat, going 2-4, with two RBI's. He leads the NWL with a .375 batting average. Jedd Gyroko went 0-3, ending his eight game hitting streak. Aaron Everett picked up his second save, pitching a scoreless ninth. Date: 7/13/10
The Emeralds won the first game of a five game series with Tri-City 4-3. Dexter Carter, who was acquired in the Jake Peavy deal last year, got the start for Eugene. He struggled early, lasting just 1+ innings, giving up 3 earned runs, including two home runs. The Emeralds battled back from an early 3-0 deficit, by scoring 3 runs in the fourth inning. Shortstop Chris Tremblay socked a two run double, and Jedd Gyroko put the Em's ahead for good with an RBI single. Matthew Branham got the win in relief, pitching four scoreless innings, striking out six. Robert Sabo pitched the final two innings to pick up his first save. The Emeralds have won a season high three games in a row, running their record to 11-14, seven games back of first place Everett. Date: 7/12/10
The Emeralds win 8-5 over the Boise Hawks, for their second straight win. Eugene fell behind early, but scored 2 runs in both the 3rd and 4th innings, respectively. The Emeralds pulled away with 3 runs in the seventh, with two of those runs scoring via bases loaded walks. Pedro Martinez was solid, giving up just 2 runs(1 earned) in his five innings of work. Aaron Everett slammed the door shut in the ninth, picking up his first save. He has not given up an earned run in his 10 innings of work out of the bullpen. The Emeralds dropped the series 3-2, but did manage to win the last two games. Notes: The Emeralds added infielder Cole Tyrell to the active roster. He was the Padres 42nd round draft choice in the 2010 draft. He went 0-3 in his Emeralds debut, getting the start at DH. Date: 7/11/10

The Em's fell to to Boise 6-5 in 10 innings on Saturday night. Matthew Lollis took the hill for Eugene and struggled a bit, giving five earned runs in four innings of work. He surrendered 8 hits, walking one and striking out 0. Eugene fell behind 5-2, but battled back to tie the game in the sixth inning.. The score stayed even until the tenth when Boise pushed across a run in the bottom of the 10th off of losing pitcher Daniel Ottone. His record fell to 0-1 with a 1.35 ERA. The Em's dropped to 8-14. The Emeralds dropped the second of their five game series with Boise, 9-6. Eugene fell behind 4-0, before scoring 5 runs in the top of the fifth to take a 5-4 lead. Boise scored 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth and never looked back. Keyvius Sampson got the start for the Em's working 4 innings, giving up 4 runs(2 earned) and struck out 4. His ERA sits at a sparkling 1.88. Jedd Gyroko continued his hot hitting, going 2-5 with a pair of RBI's. With the loss, the Emeralds drop to 8-13. Date: 7/8/10: Boise 5, Eugene 4
The Emerald's drop the first game of a five game series against Boise 5-4. Matthew Branham takes the loss for Eugene, giving up four earned runs in three innings. His record falls to 0-2 with a 4.85 ERA. jedd Gyroko continues his soild start going 4-5 including his 5th dinger of the year. He also has a cool .353 average in addition to the five HR's. Wesley Cunningham went 3-5 including his second homer of the year. Notes: The Emeralds released infielder Nick D'Amico and outfielder Ty Wright. D'Amico has signed this year as a non-drafted free agent. He was 1-17 on the year. Ty Wright was a 25th round pick of the Padres in 2009. He hit .167 in seven games this season.
Date: 7/6/10: Everett 7, Eugene 6 The Em's drop a heartbreaker losing to the Everett Aquasox 7-6. The Emeralds gave up four runs in the ninth inning to lose. Pedro Martinez(not that guy) got the start for Eugene. He went four innings, giving up one earned run and striking out six. Chris Franklin took the loss as well as the blown save as he gave up four runs(three earned) in the ninth. Catcher Rocky Gale had a pair of hits and also threw out three runners trying to steal. Shortstop Tyler stubblefield also added three hits raising his average to a solid .283. The Emerald's record stands at 8-11. Date: 7/5/10: The Eugene Emeralds fall to the Everett Aquasox 7-6. Offensive standouts for the Emeralds included: Catcher Rocky Gale who went 2-3 with a double, and a pair of RBI's and First baseman Brett Basham who had a pair of hits in as many at bats.
