Sharing is Caring

storm_baseballLake Elsinore Storm 3B/DH Jedd Gyorko continues to rack up the impressive numbers and is selected as the Storm representative to the Cal League All Star Game. He leads the league with 62 RBI while adding 29 2B and 11 SB to his impressive season stats. Continuing to make his case for a June call-up to the AA San Antonio Missions, Gyorko is making it difficult for Padres brass as the Missions regular 3B is James Darnell, also not a slouch in the numbers department, with almost 50 RBI and a batting average at .350 or above.

Fellow 3B/DH Eddie Rincon had a 11/24 week, increasing his average to .350 with 11 runs scored, a double, 2 HR, and 12 RBI to equal 42 for the season.

Gyorko ended the week at .375 with 10 runs scored, 4 2B, 7 RBI, 2 HR with a 13/30.

1B Nate Freiman also continued to be productive with an 11/29 and 10 RBI to increase his total to 54 RBI for the year.

All of this hitting only accomplished a 3-3 record for the week due to the difficulties of the pitching staff. Starters  Mike Watt and Jerry Sullivan struggled in their outings while reliever Robert Lara increases his ERA from 10.00 to 16.20.

Jose DePaula had a good start with 7 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, HR to earn his fourth win but only lower his ERA to 6.02.

Closer Miles Mikolas lowered his ERA from 1.48 to 1.35 with 3.1 IP and 2 H with no runs allowed in three appearances.

Roster changes for the week included OF Danny Payne returning to the Storm from San Antonio and Utilityman Dean Anna promoted to the Missions (in his last four games before being promoted—7/19, 4 runs, 2B, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 2 BB, 2 SO .301-.311).

OF Oscar Garcia sent to the Eugene Emeralds roster (season starts June 17)

OF Daniel Meeley off the DL

RHP Jason Ray sent to San Antonio (10 games, 13 IP, 1.38 ERA with 6 BB and 15 SO for a 2-0 record).

There will be a lot of shuffling with the minor league rosters between this week and June 17 to 20 as the two short season leagues begin play with players assigned from extended spring training, the other minor league rosters and the players from the 2011 draft as they sign. We will do our best to update you as the changes occur and there will be updates on the two new teams when their seasons begin.
