A tough week for the Lake Elsinore Storm. There is no doubt they are struggling some adjusting to the loss of two of their key players to the SA Missions (Cumberland and Tekotte). Finishing the series with three games against the RC Quakes, the Storm split the series 2 games each. They then played a 3 game series with Inland Empire, winning 2 of 3. The last game of the week was the beginning of a series with Rancho Cucamonga, losing the first game. Finishing the week 3-4 and scoring less runs than they are accustomed to amassing. The pitching was also not up to normal standards during the week. Possibly a result of the extended rest during the All Star break. Erik Gonzalez improved his status with a 2 hit, 1 run performance that lowered his ERA to 7.42. He also struck out 5 with only 1 BB against the Quakes. Brad Brach extended his saves record to 27 with his only save of the week. The hitting was somewhat inconsistent with Daniel Robertson improving his average from .318 to .326, scoring 7 runs. Jaff Decker improved his average from .218 to .229 with 2 doubles, 5 RBI, a triple and HR. He had 3 SO to 4 BB. 1B/DH Allan Dykstra improved his average from .207 to .223 and is beginning to show some pop in his bat. He scored 3 runs, had a double with 2 RBI and 3 BB to 2 SO. The lineup has been changing on a consistent basis since the break with manager Carlos Lezcano looking for a productive hitting order. The starting pitching has also been adjusted as the pitchers will stretch out again for the second half and the rotation gets set with more than 5 starting pitchers vying for playing time. The only roster move of the week was to send Steve Garrison back to Portland.
