Sharing is Caring

storm_baseballWeek 14 for the Lake Elsinore Storm started by finishing the series with the IE 66ers with a loss. They then played a 3 game series with San Jose, sweeping the series. Following that with the first 2 games of a 3 game series against IE again winning the first 2 games. They began the week 52-34 and ended the week 57-34, winning 5 of 6.

They seemingly have hit their stride again after adjusting to the loss of two of their regular starters with the mid-season promotions. Several players stepped forward during the week and improved on their prior performance.

Jaff Decker went 10/22 with 9 R, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 4 BB, and 1 SB.

Cody Decker was 8/25 with 7 R, 4 2B, 5 RBI, 2 BB, 3 HR,2 BB

Yefri Carvajal  9/20 6 R, 2 B, 6 RBI, 2 HR, 1 SB to improve his avg to .216

Allan Dykstra 6/19 with 5 R, 2 2B, 8 RBI, 5 BB, 1 HR, and a SB. Improving his avg to .225.

Jose Lopez 10/21 7 R, 2 2B, 6 RBI, 5 BB, HR, 1 SB with a .311 avg.

This is the best streak Dykstra and Carvajal have had and are beginning to show some growth for this season.

The pitching staff has been limited in their innings since the beginning of the second half with only a couple starters allowed to go 5 innings. Newcomer Jeremy McBryde  went 5 IP wih 2 H and 2 SO to win his first game as a Storm pitcher for an ERA 0.90. Both Anthony Bass ( 5 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 4 SO ERA 2.92) and Erik Davis ( 9-3 5 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO, 1 HR , ERA 4.15) had quality outings Davis won his game with Bass getting a no decision.

Brad Brach accomplished save 29 and had 1 blown save with his ERA going to 2.98.

Roster changes during the week were promotions to AA San Antonio for Colt Hynes and promotions to LE for  RHP Hayden Beard, a 25y/o Australian coming up from the Tin Caps. Also promoted was Gary Poynter, a RHP brought up from the AZL Padres.storm_baseball
