At the end of the week they were even at 14-14 for the second half and an overall record of 60-38 for the season. For the second half of the season they are in a tie with IE for third place and 2 games back of the leader. Manager Carlos Lezcano continues to juggle the lineup, searching for the best hitting order for the second half. Will Venable played 2 rehab games over this period, going 1/8 with a double, 4 BB and 4 SO. He was then sent to San Antonio to complete his rehab assignment. 1B/DH Cody Decker continued his hitting streak until the last game of the week, notching only his second hitless game of the last 2 weeks. For the current week he was 10/28 with 5 R, 3 2B, 4 BB, HR, 6 RBI and raising his average to .273. Jaff Decker also continued to hit well with a double, 7 BB, 2 HR and 4 RBI, finishing with a .255 avg. The pitcher of note was Rob Musgrave out of the bullpen. He made 3 appearances with 4.1 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 7 SO, 1 BB and an ERA of 1.92 from 2.04. Closer Brad Brach made 3 appearances, winning 1 game and saving 2 to total a 5-1 record for the season and 31 saves with a 2.72 ERA. The transactions for the week allowed Erik Davis to make a spot start for AAA Portland and AZL Padre Mark Hardy to also make a spot start for the Storm. As a 43rd rounder in this years draft, Mark made his first appearance above rookie league ball. He signed with the Padres June 20th.
