Sharing is Caring

storm_baseballThe next to the last week of baseball for the Lake Elsinore Storm was a rough one. They were swept by Rancho Cucamonga in a three game series, lost 2 of 3 to Lancaster and lost the first game of a four game series with High Desert to give them a 1-6 record for the week.

There continue to be many changes in the daily lineup by manager Carlos Lezcano in an attempt to find a winning combination. But most of the bats have gone pretty cold and the Storm lost another of their key players when OF Jaff Decker was lost for the season with a broken left hand when hit by a pitch.

There were some exceptions to the trend as OF Daniel Robertson was able to maintain his .300 average with 4 runs, 3 doubles, 5 RBI and 3 stolen bases for the week.

OF Cody Decker went 5 for 21 with 3 runs scored, a double and HR, and RBI and 3 BB.

To replace Jaff Decker in the lineup, Rymer Liriano was promoted to the Storm from the short season Eugene Emeralds and started off his debut with a 6 for 19 with 2 runs, a double, HR, 3 RBI, 3 BB and a SB for a .316 avg. A nice debut for the right fielder.

Padres utilityman Oscar Salazar continued his rehab stint with the Storm, contributing with a5 for 21 week, 2 runs scored, a double and 2 RBI, hitting .280.

Pitchers Juan Oramas, Rob Musgrave, Adam Schrader and Jeremy McBryde had good outings with Musgrave being the only winner in the group.

Oramas had 2 games pitched with a combined 5.2 IP, 5 hits, 1 ER, 1 BB and 7 SO for a 2.92 ERA. With limited innings, he continues to shine.

Converted relief man Rob Musgrave had 6 IP with 3 hits, 1 ER and 6 SO to give him an ERA of 2.26.

Recently promoted Adam Schrader threw 5 innings with 6 hits, 1 ER and 2 SO for a 0.82 ERA in 3 games with 15 IP total.

McBryde had 8 IP with 4 hits, 1 ER, a HR and 4 SO to bring his ERA to 3.13.

Transactions for the week included the placing of Jaff Decker on the DL and promoting Liriano to replace him.

Bringing pitcher Steve Garrison back to LE from the Portland Beavers.

Sending recently promoted catcher J. Pozo to San Antonio and bringing catcher Ali Solis back to LE from the Missions.

Catcher Adam Zornes was also placed on the inactive list having not played since 8/15 (never placed on the DL but presumed injured).

The Storm finish up their season with a series completed against High Desert followed by a 3 game series with Lancaster and complete the regular season with another 4 game series with High Desert. The playoffs begin at home Sept 11 with a 7:05pm game against a team to still be determined.
