Last year had a cup of coffee with Oakland batting (.286 .340 .408) with 3 2B, 1HR, 4 RBI in 49 Ab's.
Steven Tolleson hasn’t hit for much power in his career. However, he has played in some of the most difficult leagues for hitting in the minor leagues in the Midwest and Florida State Leagues.
Last year with Oakland's AAA affiliate he hit very well. Batting (.332 .412 .503) 17 2B, 3 3B, 9 Hr's 43 RBI's in 292 Ab's.
Tolleson has a compact stroke that enables him to see the ball better deeper in the strike zone, but doesn’t produce a lot of home run-generating backspin. Very solid pitch recognition as you would imagine. Throughout his career, Tolleson has hit left-handers well.
Defensively, Tolleson is very versatile, playing all over the field. He has spent the majority of his career at shortstop or second base, but he can also handle third base and has seen time in outfield.
