James Darnell gets called up to the major leagueclub and the Padres sign free agent Pedro Feliz in week 19. The Tucson Padres hosted the Oklahoma City Redhawks
for four games starting Sunday 8/7. Tucson sent starting pitcher Jon Van Benschoten to the mound in game one. He allowed five runs in four innings while striking out one batter. Steve Tolleson started the game at shortstop in the
lead-off spot and had a hit and a run batted in. Tolleson also pitched a scoreless inning in relief late in the game. Catcher Kyle Phillips had a homerun and two RBI on Sunday, while second baseman Eric Patterson was a homerun away from hitting for the cycle. 2B Patterson scored two runs and had an RBI in the 5-13 Tucson loss. SP Jeremy Hefner was matched up against Redhawks
starter Andy Van Hekken in game two. SP Hefner battled through six innings while allowing nine earned runs. Opposing pitcher Van Hekken was credited with the win as he pitched seven innings while allowing two runs with five strikeouts. First baseman Anthony Rizzo had one hit and one RBI
while outfielder Bobby Kielty had two hits and a run scored as Tucson lost game two with Oklahoma City 2-10. Tuesday the T-Pads jumped out to an early 7-0 lead
after they scored six runs in the second inning off of opposing SP Dallas Keuchel, who lasted two innings while allowing seven runs. Tucson SP Rob Musgrave had four strikeouts while allowing seven runs in five innings. 2B-CF Patterson was a double away from the cycle in
game two as he continued his hot hitting. 2B-CF Patterson had four hits and three RBI and 1B Rizzo had three hits and two RBI in game three of the series. After giving up a seven run lead the T-Pads were
able to score one run in the sixth inning to take the lead back. RP Matt Buschmann pitched two scoreless innings in relief and was credited with the win while RP Brach recorded his sixth save in the 8-7 victory. The last game of the series was a pitcher’s duel
between Tucson SP Samuel Deduno and the Redhawks SP J.A. Happ. SP Deduno has been throwing like the staff ace and had another great performance Wednesday as he threw six shut-out innings and struck out six hitters. Happ pitched well also, allowing one unearned run in six innings. With a one run lead RP Brach allowed two runs in the
ninth inning and blew his first save of the season. 1B Rizzo had two hits and an RBI in the 1-2 loss. Tucson lost three of four games with the Houston Astros triple-A affiliate giving them four wins and four losses on the home-stand. Tucson had the day off Thursday and then took to the
road for an eight game road trip starting with four games against the Memphis Redbirds on Friday. Memphis sent SP Blaine Boyer to the mound to face the T-Pads SP Jon Leicester in game one. SP Leicester allowed two runs in six innings,
outpitching Boyer who allowed five runs on nine hits in five innings. The T-Pads bullpen performed well as RP Greg Burke and RP Luis Perdomo combined for three shutout innings in relief. Tucson hit four homeruns on Friday as each of the
first five hitters in the batting order had at least two hits. 3B Feliz hit a homerun in his first game with the Tucson Padres as he had two hits and two RBI. 1B Rizzo had a double, a homerun and three RBI; 2B
Hoffpauir had two hits including a homerun and two RBI, and centerfielder Drew Macias had a solo homerun in the 8-2 Tucson victory. SP Leicester earned his fifth win of the season as Tucson took game one. SP Will Inman started game two of the series and
allowed five runs in three innings pitched. RP Ernesto Frieri, RP Buschmann and RP Perdomo combined for five shut-out innings in relief. LF Matt Clark had two hits and a scored on a two-run homerun from RF Kielty in the second inning. Those were the only runs scored by Tucson in the 2-5 loss. SP Hefner faced off with Memphis starter Adam Ottavino
in low-scoring game three. The bright spot for Tucson was SP Hefner who struck out six and allowed one run in seven innings pitched. SP Ottavino pitched seven innings of shutout baseball; the Memphis pitching staff held Tucson to two hits in the 0-2 loss. Outfielder Chris Denorfia had a walk in his one at bat on Sunday. The final game of the series saw SP Musgrave throw
against Memphis SP Maikel Cleto. SP Musgrave allowed three runs in six innings while SP Cleto kept the T-Pads bats cold with six shutout innings pitched. C Phillips had a double and scored the only run for Tucson as they lost on Monday 1-7. Tucson won one of four games with the St. Louis
Cardinals triple-A affiliate bringing their season record to 55-67, leaving them in third place in the Pacific Coast League South. Tucson will continue their road trip with four games in Nashville starting Tuesday. Roster
