San Antonio – Infielder Kyle Blanks has been promoted to the Triple-A Tucson Padres and will join the team in Tucson today.
The move is a result of San Diego promoting prized prospect Anthony Rizzo from the Triple-A club to the big leagues.
In 44 games with the Missions, Blanks hit .282 (50-for-177) with four home runs, 27 RBI, 16 doubles, three doubles and 33 runs scored.
Blanks was initially sent to San Antonio on April 14 on a rehab assignment while he recovered from surgery on his right elbow.
Taking Blanks’ spot on the roster is infielder Dean Anna who was called up from the Class A Lake Elsinore Storm. In 44 games with Lake Elsinore, Anna hit .311 (46-for-148) with 10 doubles, two triples, three home runs 18 RBI and 25 runs scored.
Anna was drafted by the Padres in the 26th round of the 2008 First Year Player Draft out of Ball St. University.
