Via the San Antonio Missions Media Department:

San Antonio – The San Diego Padres top catching prospect, Jason Hagerty, has been promoted to San Antonio from the Class A Lake Elsinore Storm and will join the Missions today in Midland.

Hagerty is also considered San Diego’s 10th rated overall prospect according to Baseball America.

In 68 games with Lake Elsinore, the switch-hitting Hagerty hit .311 (80-for-257) with 25 doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 47 RBI, 53 runs scored and a .386 on-base percentage.

Hagerty, a 23-year old native of St. Louis, MO, was San Diego’s fifth round pick in the 2009 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Miami (FL).

Joining Hagerty on the Missions roster will be fellow catcher Rocky Gale, a 24th round selection out of the University of Portland in 2010.

Gale is a 23-year old native of Keizer, OR and played 36 games in three different stops this season between the Class A Ft. Wayne TinCaps, Lake Elsinore and the Triple-A Tucson Padres. He hit a combined .137 (13-for-95) with a double, a triple, 10 RBI and eight runs scored.

Hagerty and Gale will take the roster spots of Ali Solis and Eddy Rodriguez.

Solis, a Texas League All-Star, has been promoted to Triple-A Tucson and will join the team today in Tucson. Solis hit .285 (55-for-193) with three home runs and 20 RBI in 54 games with the Missions and was the starting catcher in last month’s All-Star Game at Wolff Stadium.

Rodriguez has been sent to Lake Elsinore and will join the Storm today in Rancho Cucamonga. In 18 games with San Antonio, Rodriguez hit .209 (14-for-67) with one home run and six RBI.
