missions
It's that time again.  May has come and gone and it's time to recognize a player and pitcher for each of the Padres minor league affiliates.   This month wasn't so easy to find a standout hitter for the Missions.  Missions hitters have been eaten alive by their version of Petco Park.

The third place Missions were 13-16 for the month of may and are now  5 games out of first place.

hunter  CF -  Cedric Hunter

Cedric is still hitting .297/.355/.405 despite a slower May.  He only hit .261/.352/.351 for the month of may; although, he did increase his BB%.  His BABIP was much lower than it was in April despite an increased line drive % which means he was somewhat unlucky.   He isn't the only Missions player watching their offensive numbers slip and he isn't the only Missions player having a hard time getting an extra base hit.  The whole team is struggling offensively.

Pelzer  RHP - Wynn Pelzer

Pelzer dominated in the month of May with the exception of one bad start.  On May 24th Pelzer gave up 5 ER in 5 innings.  Other than that, Pelzer didn't given up more than 1 ER in any of his 6 May starts.  He sports a 2.43 ERA, increased ground ball percentage, and more strike outs per innings pitched for the month.

Honorable Mention:  The bullpen headed by closer Craig Italiano and Aaron Poreda continue to dominate in the late innings.
