Sharing is Caring

missionsJune saw the Missions finish up at 15-11 for the month and 35-35 for the first half of the season.  The Missions .500 record was good enough to land the team in sixth place of eight teams in the Texas League.

The Missions had some outstanding performances on the mound from Simon Castro, Jeremy Hefner, and Corey Kluber.  These players all deserve mention, but were not able to be selected as the Friarhood Missions Pitcher of the Month.

 Matt_Clark1B – Matt Clark

Arguably the most talented roster in the Padres farm system the Missions as individuals have not hit their stride.  Matt Clark was able to put up some impressive numbers and is our Friarhood Missions Hitter of the Month.  The power hitting first baseman led the team with five homeruns and drove in 21 RBI for the month of June.  Clark was named Texas League player of the week on 6/14/10 and although he did not hit for average he was the catalyst of the offense helping the team its best month of the season.

Luebke_2SP – Cory Luebke

In his first full month of the season Luebke did not waste any time reminding people why he is one of the Padres top pitching prospects.  In six starts Cory lead all starting pitchers on the team in ERA (1.89), IP (38.0) and Wins (4).  He only allowed eight earned runs on twenty-seven hits, while holding opposing hitters to a .200 average in June.  I’m sure if you ask Cory he would tell you a large portion of his success is due to his sweet looking Friarhood Athletic Fit Shirt.  If you would like to know more about Cory Luebke you can read the interview we conducted with him during spring training.
