Padres Acquire INF Ryan Jackson for Jesus Guzman

Guzman2

On the heels of the Benoit news, the Padres acquired minor league depth in Ryan Jackson from the Astros in exchange for fan favorite Jesus Guzman.

Jackson formally a top SS prospect in the Cardinals system was claimed off waivers by the Astros last month.  Heading into 2013, Baseball America ranked Jackson as the #15 prospect in the Cardinals system.

Guzman a guy that routinely crushed left-handed pitching, struggled in 2013 putting together a line of .245/.309/.381.  Built for the AL, Guzman should get plenty of ABs with the Astros, while the Padres get an insurance policy at SS in Jackson.
