Padres Avoid Arbitration With Will Venable 

According to The Union Tribune (via twitter), the Padres have avoided arbitration with Will Venable agreeing to $2.675 million for 2013.

Venable is coming off a 2012 where in 417 at bats he posted a .264/.335/.429 slash line while hitting 9 home runs and driving in 45 RBIs. These numbers have been on par with what he has been capable of for most of his career so far.

Will split time platooning in right with Chris Denorfia and will most likely continue to do so coming into this season. There was talk earlier of the Padres potentially looking at a corner outfield replacement, but as with most of the Padres’ offseason nothing came about.
