Padres Bookend Exciting Series With Extra-Inning Letdowns versus Giants

The Padres opened the second half of 2011 with a disappointing extra-inning loss after a blown save by All-Star closer Heath Bell. After losing game two, extending their season high losing streak to seven, The Friars exploded for 11 runs against the defending world champions with Mat Latos going head-to-head with Matt Cain for the final game of the series.

But neither pitcher would get a decision as the NL West rivals bookended the series with another extr-inning affair, with San Francisco victorious in both. The Padres hope to turn their fortunes around after a travel day on Monday to Miami to face the Marlins for a three-game series starting Tuesday.

Below is a game-by-game breakdown of the series dropped to the San Francisco Giants.
